OUR STORY
A young story set in a beautiful paradise
Our story is young, unlike more traditional and well known vineyards offering generations and great history to tell. We acquired our beautiful piece of paradise in the early 1990s and eventually converted the 150 acre dairy farm into a picturesque lifestyle block subdivision. Todd Duncan Estate features beautiful rolling contour, panoramic lake views, river stone gateways, gorgeous river stone entranceway. We kept 11ha for the winery.
Surrounded by natural, native bush
Keeping 11 hectares at the rear of the farm, of which 5hectares are in natural native bush. The bush lit driveway brings you through to a stunning platform with panoramic lake and rural views. This gave us the immediate vision for the setting for the vineyard. Research took shape, soil tests carried out, climate evaluations, setting and ultimately the results gave us the confidence to start digging in poles and planting.

Alan & Shona Duncan
Duncan Estate Winery is a boutique vineyard owned by visionary couple Alan and Shona Duncan. Set against the lush native bush and black barn, the sun drenched estate captures a panoramic outlook of Lake Rotorua and Mt Tarawera. ‘The Barn’ label reflects the vision of a country concept with a classic flair. Wine that has been developed in an unexpected region, but proven it can be done. The vines have been planted in all day sun, mixed with cooler evenings and lots of love and care!
